Professor Amy Brodtmann is the 2025 recipient of the OHBM Mentor Award, recognized for her longstanding contributions to clinical neuroscience and mentorship. As a clinician-scientist at Monash University, she leads the Cognitive Health Initiative within the Department of Neuroscience in the School of Translational Medicine. Before taking on her current role, she served as a Professor in the Department of Florey at the University of Melbourne and held an Honorary Adjunct Clinical Professorship at Monash University. She also served as Professor and Co-Head of Behavioural Neuroscience at the Florey Institute for Neuroscience and Mental Health at the Melbourne Brain Centre, and worked as a Consultant Neurologist at Austin Health.

The Mentor Award recognises Professor Brodtmann’s support for her mentees’ career development, both in research and clinical practice. In this interview, she reflects on how her career took her across leading Australian research institutions and discusses the impact of sustained mentorship on advancing cognitive health research.
